About us

At the heart of our work is the creation of a school environment where, in the words of the Childrens Act 2004, every child really does matter. Our research during the last nine years has found that students perceive social and emotional aspects of learning to be more important than subject knowledge when it comes to being successful in school. We are using this information to provide ways of engaging children and young people in talking about their learning experiences.

Over the time of the year, we have learned to trust each other and can now take part in the lessons. We are more confident, we have more friends and can work with people in other lessons.’

The teacher is the role model of the ground rules, the processes, listening, relationships and emotional tone. The way she treats us is how we want to treat everyone else, like respect.
